Common questions
How old do drivers need to be?
Drivers are aged 5 to 18. Younger drivers start out on the smaller ponies and work their way up.
Do we need our own pony?
Most drivers race their own pony, which must be under 52 inches high. If you don't have one yet, talk to us. We can point you in the right direction.
What gear is needed?
A gig, harness and safety gear for the driver. The committee will run through exactly what is required before you drive.
What does it cost?
There are club membership and licence fees, plus the cost of keeping a pony. Ask the committee for the current fees.
Do parents need horse experience?
No. Plenty of our families started from scratch. Other families and the committee are happy to help you learn.
